Laurie BoeDee is a new arrival to the Twin Ports area and Hamlin Music is excited to welcome her. Coming from Austin, Texas, she brings a treasure trove of exciting experiences in teaching, performing, and recording. Laurie connects wonderfully with kids and believes wholeheartedly in Mentorship through music. One of her former guitar students developed his own band RESIDUAL KID and tours nationally. Another of her multi-talented teen students danced at the closing ceremony of the 2016 summer Olympics in Rio!
Her early music training began in Denver, Colorado with two significant mentors- John Harrison, guitarist (Denver Folklore Center) and Lee W. Fiser (retired voice teacher at University of Texas) As a teen, she was performing in Denver clubs and attracted critical acclaim.
Moving to Texas at 17, she was a folk singer performing her original songs primarily in Galveston, Houston and Austin. She was a member of TMEA (Texas Music Educators Association) and over the years, formed bands and expanded her guitar playing into advanced Blues and Rock. She has been an instructor for the Childbloom Guitar Program, Briarcliff Music, the Austin Lyric Opera, and her own BoeDee's Music Enterprizes.
Recently, she was voted "TOP PRO" by Thumbtack (internet services search) for the city of Austin. In 2016, she co-wrote and produced a collection of contemporary Christian songs (featuring Dani Overstreet) available on ITUNES, entitled "Love Has No Borders".
Laurie teaches private and group lessons, conducts workshops and enjoys coaching "theater kids" as well as church worship leaders who desire to improve their vocals and elevate their worship delivery and experience.
