Ian is a multi-talented musician who teaches guitar at Hamlin, but is also qualified to teach a variety of other instruments including, bass, mandolin, saxophone, clarinet and others. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Superior (UWS) with a Bachelor of Science in Music, and has been presented with several awards and honors for musical excellence. He is currently working on his Master of Music in Composition at Stephen F. Austin State University.
In addition to teaching, Ian has been an active member of the UWS Guitar Ensemble, Jazz Band, Steel Drum Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Acapella Choir, Orchestra, Men’s Ensemble, various Jazz Combos, and was a featured soloist with the Duluth Symphonic Winds and UWS Symphonic Band on an international tour to Costa Rica. Ian's compositions have been performed in ten countries across five continents while attracting the attention of members from the London Symphony Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra of Taiwan, the San Antonio Symphony, and the Woolmer Philharmonic Orchestra in Essex, United Kingdom.
